24. Thomas Enqvist

DOB: 13.03.1974
Nationality: Swedish
World Ranking: 19
Australian Open record:
2001 :: n/a
2000 :: first round
1999 :: runner-up
1998 :: second round
1997 :: fourth round

Enqvist will be taking part in his 10th Australian Open but is unlikely to match his feats of three years ago.

Then, before injury ravaged the Swede's body, he reached the final, losing to Yevgeny Kafelnikov in four sets.

He won the last of his 18 titles in October 2000 and the suspicion remains that he could have claimed even more had it not been for the five operations he has endured since 1994.

Enqvist has a very strong backhand and possesses an equally strong return of serve and will pose problems to any on his day - as long as his body holds out.
