19. Jan-Michael Gambill

DOB: 06.03.1977
Nationality: American
World Ranking: 21
Australian Open record:
2001 :: first round
2000 :: first round
1999 :: first round
1998 :: first round
1997 :: n/a

Touted by Pete Sampras as "the future of American tennis", Gambill is the men's answer to Anna Kournikova - although there are some noticeable differences.

The strong serving 24-year-old has a contract with one of America's top modelling agencies, but he has also won titles.

He won his first at Scottsdale in 1999 and his second at Delray Beach in Florida in May last year.

One of the other differences is that Kournikova has actually won a match at Melbourne - Gambill is still waiting to beak his duck down under.
