14. Alex Corretja

DOB: 11.04.1974
Nationality: Spain
World Ranking: 16
Australian Open record:
2001 :: n/a
2000 :: second round
1999 :: second round
1998 :: third round
1997 :: second round

Corretja is celebrating a decade as a professional, and is a consistent performer on all surfaces.

Consistently good on clay - and less so on other surfaces.

A harsh call as the Spaniard has won his far share of titles on hard surfaces, but at the highest level he has failed to deliver outside the French Open.

A quarter-final at Flushing Meadows is his best showing in 18 Grand Slam appearances off Parisian clay.

On it, the 26-year-old has reached the final twice, in 1998 and last year

Corretja was also part of Spain's victorious team that won the Davis Cup against Australia in 2000 - on clay.
