Aussie Open quotes of the day

Caroline Wozniacki
Top seed Caroline Wozniacki continues to make smooth progress in Melbourne

"I'd like to do this a little differently this time. I find it quite funny, because I always get the same questions. So I'm just going to start. I know what you're going to ask me already..." Thus began a five-minute monologue by Caroline Wozniacki following victory over Dominika Cibulkova, in which she answered her own questions.

Such as the inevitable... "Um, if I deserve to be number one? Again, I don't feel any pressure to be number one. I really enjoy myself. I think I've had a great year and a great tournament so far."

There was also this gem: "Sometimes the media is too good-looking here, so I can't really focus on what I'm supposed to say."

And advice on how to interview Andy Murray: "Don't ask him if he thinks he will win a Grand Slam this year. I know he likes PlayStation, so I'd probably ask him a few questions about that."

After asking for "questions that are a little bit more interesting", Wozniacki discussed her session with Australian cricketers at the MCG: "It was a lot of fun. The guys helped me with my technique. If it wasn't tennis, I think cricket could be the sport."

Back in the real world, Novak Djokovic on beating fellow Serb Viktor Troicki: "It's not really the way you want to win - especially if you're playing against one of your best friends. Viktor was actually the hero. He won the last match. He played the best match of his life there. We're still under a lot of emotions, a lot of celebrations that I wouldn't talk about publicly!"

Justine Henin, after defeat to Svetlana Kuznetsova: "I know I'm not 100%. I knew it before walking on the court. That's why I say there are no excuses. I decided to play not being 100%. It's been difficult in the last three days on my elbow and I just did everything that I could, but it wasn't enough." (Henin's comeback season was derailed when she injured her right elbow at Wimbledon last summer and did not play again in 2010.)

Kuznetsova on a past spat with Francesca Schiavone, her next opponent: "We didn't talk for some time, I didn't shake her hand. We spoke in the locker room, so we are completely over it. I said sorry or whatever. We just talked. She misunderstands me, I misunderstand her. It's women's stuff - it's women's mentality or whatever it is."

Roger Federer after breaking Swede Stefan Edberg's record for the most open era wins at the Australian Open with 57 since his 2000 tournament debut: "It's very nice to take the record but Edberg still stays my idol."
