Baltacha broke into the world's top 50 for the first time last week

British number one Elena Baltacha moved into the second round of the Korea Open with victory over So-Jung Kim.

The 27-year-old Scot, ranked 50th in the world, saved six of eight break points faced as she came through 6-3 6-4 against the South Korean wildcard.

Baltacha will take on Agnes Szavay or Polona Hercog in the last 16.

Russia's world number 19 Nadia Petrova is the top seed in Seoul, with former world number one Ana Ivanovic of Serbia also in the field.

Meanwhile in Uzbekistan, Britain's Katie O'Brien was beaten 7-5 6-1 in the first round of the Tashkent Open by Ekaterina Ivanova of Russia.
