US Open quotes - day eight

Caroline Wozniacki
Wozniacki has been helped into the last eight by Stella McCartney

"For me it's important to feel good on court and of course to look good. Then I can focus on my tennis at 100%. I definitely am sure I'll get a lot of male fans now."
Caroline Wozniacki tells it like it is when asked if her dress is, maybe, a bit short?

"Obviously, losing a match, 30 minutes later, you're not the happiest person in the world. But at the end of the day, I'm sure you've heard it many times, but it's a tennis match."
Sharapova shows she is settling into the role of senior player at the grand old age of 23 with a sensible perspective on defeat.

"It's not going to be easy. He's a great player. He's having a great last couple of years. He has always been a dangerous player but now he has been able to do it consistently."
Roger Federer is ready to step up his game against fifth seed Robin Soderling in the quarter-finals.

"I think anybody can beat Roger, anybody at least in the top 10. He had a great year, but he had some losses this year."
But that's dangerous talk from Soderling.

"It's not that easy to play when we are very good friends."
But Gael Monfils puts professionalism ahead of friendship to beat Richard Gasquet in the fourth round.

"I know him like, perfectly."
Monfils on quarter-final opponent Novak Djokovic.

"If he starts playing well he can beat anyone because he is so fast and so athletic and strong that he can get a lot of balls back."
Djokovic on the threat posed by Monfils.

"He kicked my butt."
Mardy Fish's assesses what went wrong against third seed Djokovic.

"I just didn't feel good. I was very flat. I was just fighting with myself and was not doing all the time the things I was supposed to do."
Former champion Svetlana Kuznetsova after losing to Dominika Cibulkova.

"It was very hard for me to play one night (the) second night match, and then in one day to play at 11:00. I still have to play and win, doesn't matter what, because I feel that my level is so much better. I was doing it right, then I stop again. Still, it's not an excuse."
And the Russian continues to offer reasons why she struggled against the Slovakian.

"I was really pumped for this. I know my game and I know myself, so I knew I could make it. I could beat everybody in this tournament. I was just waiting for a moment and I'm happy it's here."
Cibulkova is clearly happy to come through in straight sets.
