Wales have added Chris Lewis to their one-man tennis team for the Commonwealth Games in Delhi next month.

Chris Lewis from Neath joins ex-Penarth schoolboy Josh Milton, 20, of Rhoose, for the Games on Sunday, 3 October.

Lewis, 28, turned pro in 2000 and will partner Milton in the doubles, while both men will contest the singles.

"They will face high-ranking players... but both are playing exceptionally well at the moment," said Tennis Wales chief executive Peter Drew.

Lewis and Milton helped Wales to victory in the Home Nations senior championship in Cardiff at the weekend, and senior man Lewis will also help to coach Josh out in Delhi.

"Chris has a wealth of experience, and he and Josh proved unbeatable in this year's Home Nations championship," Drew added.

"They know the whole tennis community in Wales is behind them. I'm sure they will both do Welsh tennis proud and we wish them all the best in Delhi'"

Lewis' success include winning seven Senior Welsh National titles from 2000-2009, reaching the final round of qualifying for Wimbledon 2003 and winning the Wrexham Men's ITF US$15,000 event the same year.

Milton won the AEGON GB Pro Series event at Roehampton, and finished as runner-up in Chiswick.

Roehampton-base Milton said: "This may be my only chance to play in an event like this, so I really want to make the most of it."

The former pupil of Stanwell School in Penarth is ranked in the world's top 500 having first picked up a racket at the age of five.

Since then he has won a US$15,000 title and has competed at junior Wimbledon and the US Open.
