Former champion Kramer dies at 88

Former Wimbledon champion Jack Kramer has died from cancer at his home in Los Angeles at the age of 88.

Kramer won the Wimbledon men's singles title in 1947 and the men's US Championships, the forerunner of the US Open, in 1946 and 1947.

The former world number one also won seven Grand Slam doubles titles before retiring in 1954 with arthritis.

Kramer was also a founder member of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) and owned several race horses.
