Parrott and Gullickson were playing together for the first time
Americans Carly Gullickson and Travis Parrott won the mixed doubles title at the US Open with victory over defending champions Cara Black and Leander Paes.
Gullickson and Parrott were unseeded and required a wildcard but completed their unlikely run to the title with a 6-2 6-4 win in Thursday's final.
The pair had never previously played in a tournament together.
"I can't even believe it, it's my first time on Arthur Ashe," said the 22-year-old Gullickson.
"It was a great experience. I'm super excited and happy right now."
Gullickson and Parrott, who also defeated the number one and three seeds along the way, will receive $150,000 for winning the title.
