Put a fork in me, I'm done. Looks like Andy Murray's pretty much done as well, that was a real tester. The Scot has got Spain's Juan Carlos Ferrero next on Wednesday, I've got to somehow get home. Thanks for reading and see you all in a couple of day's time.

Wawrinka goes long with a forehand and challenges the previous shot from Murray... but hawkeye hands Murray two match points... Murray serves to the Stan forehand, before threading a forehand winner down the line to win it... Centre Court erupts, and what a game that was...

Any ideas how I'm going to get home? Bet there's a lot of people asking themselves that at the moment. Nice angles from Murray before Wawrinka goes long with a forehand. Fists fly in the stands as Murray pulls off an outrageous lob, and Wawrinka's staring down the barrel here at 0-30. Stan threads a backhand winner down the line, and he follows that up with an ace down the centre. Murray challenges, but it did clip the line. Wawrinka balloons a forehand way long with the court at his mercy, and Murray has a break point... Murray bunts a forehand return long, big serve from Wawrinka there. Good return again from Murray and Stan plonks a forehand long... Wawrinka misses with his first serve, Murray climbs into his second on the backhand side, but the Scot eventually stiffs a forehand into the net. Wawrinka goes well wide with another first serve, before netting with a tired-looking forehand. Third break point... AND THIS TIME HE'S DONE IT! Big first serve, but Murray blocks it back before leaving Wawrinka rooted with a fizzing forehand down the line. Murray serving for a place in the quarters...

It's going to the wire...

Stan goes wide with a forehand, and one man who'll be watching this and rubbing his hands together is Juan Carlos Ferrero - the Spaniard lays in wait for the winner of this match, and he's had his feet in a bowl of cider vinegar for the last few hours while these two have been beating each other up. Magnificent from Murray, lacing a cross-court forehand winner, but Wawrinka pulls out foa big serve to hold.

I'm back! Strange looking out across Centre Court at the moment - it looks like Centre Court during the day time, but it's not, it's Centre Court at night time, with lights instead of the sun. What a shot that is from Murray to hold - lob from Wawrinka, and Murray chases it down and fires back a backhand down the line on the turn.

Murray tries a ridiculously optimistic drop shot there, but it's at 30-0 so he just about gets away with it. Another slicey-dicey backhand forces Stan into the error, and that's 40-15 - but he overcooks a forehand. Tense times on Centre. But a booming forehand makes Stan go wide and he's on the board in this final set. It's 2200 BST, folks.

Wawrinka seemingly growing stronger all the time here, but he misses with a forehand down the line to make it 30-30. Murray with a rasping return of serve, but he nets with a dinked backhand to hand Wawrinka a set point. Take that Great Britain, Wawrinka fires an ace straight down the middle. We've got a five-setter boys and girls....

Another smash from Wawrinka and a little fist pump that says he's still massively up for this. Murray challenges on a first serve, but that was well wide. Murray with a flat forehand down the line, before he floats a backhand long to make it 15-30. It's a double from Murray, and Wawrinka's got two break points... no, wait, Murray challenges again and it did, indeed, clip the line. Murray attacks the net and Wawrinka curls a forehand on the gallop just wide. Three hours on the clock now, as Murray follows up a solid first serve with a forehand down the line. Cheap point, Murray needs a few more of those. Murray suddenly comes over all Jahangir Khan, bunting back a handful of squash shots from the back of the court, and he eventually misses with an attempted pass. Broken string for Murray, before he finds the net with a lame backhand. Advantage Wawrinka, and Murray finds the net with a backhand on the next point. Wawrinka to serve to take it to a final set...

The crowd on their feet between games, as Wawrinka prepares to serve to stay in the tournament. Murray with a big wind-up on the forehand side, but it's an unforced error. This is now officially the latest finish in Wimbers history, as the Swiss number 19 muscles down a couple of aces straight down the middle. Net cord from Murray, and he follows up with a snorter of a forehand winner down the line to make it 30-15. Wawrinka really mixing things up from the baseline, swapping slices with top-spin, and Murray eventually buckles and allows the Swiss an easy overhead to hold.

Good touch from Wawrinka, making it 15-15 with an angled backhand volley, and the Swiss piles on the pressure on the next point with some heat-seeking groundstrokes. Murray finds an ace to make it 30-30, but misses with a forehand down the line to hand Wawrinka a break point. Murray finds the sideline with a wicked forehand - challenge from Wawrinka, but that was in - Murray launches into a big first serve that Wawrinka can only block long, before coming into the net and dabbing a forehand volley that the Swiss is only able to poke long. Spunky from Murray, a break would be nice now.

Tremendous slow-mo camera shot of a Swiss lady jumping up and down there, not sure the editor really gave that enough thought to be honest. Murray misses with a runaround forehand, but he makes up for it on the next point, really piling into a raft of forehands and Wawrinka is unable to cope. Wawrinka makes it 30-30 with another unforced error, before Murray is unable to chase down a Wawrinka drop shot. Peach of a forehand pass from Murray brings it back to deuce, before Wawrinka gives Murray a break point for 5-3 with a floated backhand that lands long. It's crackling out there now, but he gets the faithful groaning with a forehand into the net. Murray keeping it on Wawrinka's forehand, but the Scot eventually goes long to hand the Swiss the advantage. Great stuff from Murray, dragging Wawrinka all over the court before executing the cross-court forehand winner. Murray with a backhand on the run, and he thinks it's in when in fact it's just wide. The crowd ramping it up now, but Murray is unable to take his chance, finding the net with another forehand. Gutsy from Wawrinka though, he looked down and out not so long ago.

Smart pick-up from Murray makes it 15-30, before Wawrinka balloons a forehand long. An unforced error from Murray hands Wawrinka a break point, and the Swiss has really put in a spurt here. Murray unable to get his first serve in, but Wawrinka eventually goes long with a forehand again. Good save from Murray, and he follows up with a searching first serve... but that's not too clever from Murray, going long with a rather weedy looking second serve. A net cord from Murray sits up for Wawrinka, but he's unable to put away his forehand down the line and misses with a backhand volley. Hefty forehand winner from Murray to hold...

Clinical from Wawrinka, coming in behind a big first serve and putting away a forehand winner, and that was a pretty straightforward hold from the Swiss. He had looked tired a couple of games ago, but he looked full of beans in that game.

Tremendous rally, Wawrinka chasing everything down from the back of the court, before Murray puts away a dainty forehand volley. Virginia Wade says Murray has lady's hands and judging from that shot, she might be right. Wawrinka stiffs a forehand volley into the net, before Murray gets into an awkward position charging into the net. Murray's eyes light up on a Wawrinka second serve, but he finds the net with a rather tame backhand return.

Both players off to point Percy at the porcelain, and the fans keep themselves entertained with a rather weak Mexican Wave. Ian Hislop, for one, is not playing ball. Murray with a thumping serve to go 15-0 up, and he races into a 40-0 lead with an ace out wide. Murray looks like he's got a dose of servitis here, he balloons two deliveries well long for a double, but he pulls a biggun out of the bag to hold.

There's Jamie Murray in the crowd - I assume that's his woman, otherwise her actual boyfriend might be extremely irate. Three set points as Murray gets stuck into the Wawrinka serve, and he only needs one of them, Wawrinka netting with a forehand. Murray pumped up, Wawrinka struggling to keep a hold of Murray's coat tails all of a sudden. Still only managed to push his first serve percentage up to 42% though, and that's not the form of a Wimbledon champion.

Murray lunges and somehow claws over an outrageous backhand pass. Wawrinka gets the benefit of a net cord, and Murray makes it 15-30 with a forehand into the net. Wawrinka floats a backhand return long, but that's a break point as Murray finds the net again, this time on the forehand side. Clutch first serve from Murray to save, and Wawrinka goes long with a forehand. Murray only getting 32% of his first serves in this set, which is pretty ordinary. Murray chasing down well, but Wawrinka stoops and pulls off a peach of a pick-up off his toes. "FOCUS!" cries Murray as he hands Wawrinka a second chance to break in this game with another forehand into the net, before the Scot saves again. Ripper of a backhand from Wawrinka and Murray is only able to dink it long off his toes, but Wawrinka misses another chance to break, spraying a backhand a few inches long. Big first serve from Murray and he follows up with a wrong-footing forehand down the T. Wawrinka long with a backhand, Murray manages to hold.

Unforced error from Murray on the forehand side, but Wawrinka sprays a forehand miles long to make it 40-30. Murray stiffs a backhand into the net for deuce, before pulling out a 125mph serve that Wawrinka can only block wide. Wawrinka floats a backhand long, and Murray holds.

Wawrinka with a bizarre misjudgement, deciding to leave a Murray lob before changing his mind and just missing with a scooped recovery. Murray almost loses his footing before berating the turf - naughty grass - before Wawrinka makes it deuce with a mishit backhand. But that's splendid from Wawrinka, making Murray scrurry with a beefy backhand before sending him the wrong way with a forehand. Big serve at the right time from Wawrinka, and Murray can only block it long.

Murray really stepping it up now, as he forces Wawrinka into an unforced error on the forehand side, before sending down his second ace to level the match. Bit of a thigh rub for Wawrinka, doesn't look too serious to me. Serve and volley from Wawrinka, before Murray earns a little clap from his opponent with a cross-court forehand winner on the gallop. Strange shot from Murray, bunting the ball over the net only for Wawrinka to knock off the backhand volley. Double-fault from Stanislas, but his next serve is a good one and makes it 40-30. But Wawrinka slices a backhand wide... before creaming down an ace out wide. That's his seventh. Fabulous from Murray, yanking Wawrinka this way and that before chasing the ball down at the net and putting away a forehand winner. Wawrinka balloons a forehand miles long to create a break point, but despite chasing down two Wawrinka overheads, the Scot is unable to take advantage. Splendid sliced backhand from Murray and Wawrinka prods a forehand into the net, and this time he grabs his chance, Wawrinka flashing a backhand wide.

Wawrinka delivers another ace right on the T, before climbing into a forehand and leaving Murray for dead with a winner down the line. Murray hits back, attacking the net and putting away a forehand volley, but Wawrinka's next serve has too much heat for Murray and it's another hold.

Wawrinka pins Murray to the back of the court before moving in a punching home a backhand volley. Two break points. Wawrinka blows one, spraying a forehand well long, and blows the second, just missing the sideline with a forehand. Wawrinka is unable to take advantage of a high-kicking second serve from Murray, before Murray pulls off the shot of the match so far, a dipping top-spin forehand on the run. Murray saves, before treating us to an Edward Munch scream.

Murray outmanoeuvring Wawrinka from the back of the court before sticking in the stiletto, leaving Wawrinka for dead with a threaded backhand down the line. Wawrinka goes long to make it 0-30, before dragging Murray out of court and forcing him into a mistake on the forehand side. Wawrinka likes to take his team between points, but I don't think Murray will be complaining. Missed chance on the Wawrinka second serve, and the Swiss follows up with a doozy of a forehand winner down the line. Murray is left rooted to the spot by another wicked top-spin backhand from Wawrinka - a glimpse of the promised land for Murray, but Wawrinka quickly slams the door shut.

Ace from Murray, and his first serve percentage is up at 73% in this set. That's majestic from Murray, haring across the court and whipping a delectable top-spin cross-court forehand. The crowd getting into that point, and Wawrinka goes long on the next point to hand the Scot the game.

"I'm not a Murray fan, and I don't really like watching Wimbledon when there is still British interest because of the annoying expectation and ridiculously one sided commentary, but Murray will come through this one because he's a better player. Wawrinka does look pretty good, though,"

"Murray is 22 and still hasn't won a slam. Most greats win a slam before their 22nd birthday. Murray will certainly not be an all time great. The only question is whether he will win a solitary slam before his career is over. I think he won't."

Murray shows his wheels with a nifty chase-down at the net, but Wawrinka's serve is some weapon - another ace down the middle, another easy hold.

Murray serving at 44% in that first set, which took a little over half an hour. It's as if his body has been invaded by Jonathan Ross here. Better from Murray, who pumps his fist after moving into a 30-15 lead, and Wawrinka overcooks a backhand to make it 40-15. Murray digs out a meaty serve and holds with relative ease. Better body language from Murray there, bit of mongrel.

Wawrinka sends pone down at 130mph, he's playing like a dream in this first set. Murray goes long with a forehand to hand Wawrinka three set points, and the Swiss is pulling his opponent's pants down here - Murray, trying to mix things up, comes to the net and pokes a tentative backhand volley long.

Murray races into a 40-0 lead courtesy of some chunky serves, before he chases down a drop-shot from Wawrinka and plops a forehand into the net. Ace from Murray to seal the game, that's a bit of a settler, for both player and fans. Unbelievable scenes on Henman Hill, it's ram-a-dam-a-ding-dong out there.

Big serve out wide from Wawrinka takes him into a 15-0 lead, but he sprays a backhand long to make it 15-15. Net cord from Murray, but the ball sits up nicely for Wawrinka, who rolls a top-spin backhand down the line. Sweet as a nut, this backhand, you could paint a picture of it, stick it in a frame and it wouldn't look out of place next to the Mona Lisa on the walls of the Louvre. Huge from Wawrinka on the backhand side again, he's terrorising the Scot with that shot.

Wawrinka winds up and clobbers a 65mph second serve miles long. Murray pulls out a big first serve to make it 30-30, before Wawrinka prods a forehand long. Wawrinka knifes a backhand long, and Murray wins his first game.

This is a sight you normally see over your local municipal - lost ball, the ball children on their hands and knees under the umpire's chair. Wawrinka with an ace, before Murray plops the tamest backhand you'll ever see into the bottom of the net. Murray outlasts Wawrinka to make it 30-15, before Wawrinka floats a backhand wide. Murray finds the net with a forehand, and this is a little too passive at the moment from the Brit. Wawrinka does Murray a favour with a double fault... and another! Murray's advantage... but he tugs a backhand into the net. Wawrinka mad as a bannister in this game - an ace to go with his two doubles - before Murray pokes a forehand wide to hand the Swiss the game.

Murray goes wide with a top-spin forehand before sending a double-fisted backhand wide... no, scrap that, Murray challenges successfully to make it 15-15. Murray mixing it up on the backhand side, alternating between slice and top-spin, but he's having all sorts of problems on serve - he sends down another second serve that bends over and begs to be spanked, and Wawrinka obliges. Another break point for Wawrinka, and Murray goes long with a forehand to hand him the game on a platter. Not the start we'd expected.

Wawrinka goes long and wide with a backhand before handing Murray the next point with a forehand into the net. The door ajar. Murray bunts a forehand return long before overcooking a forehand to lose another marathon rally. Wawrinka really getting some depth on his backhand and he forces Murray to spray one long. Wawrinka's backhand is a bit hit and miss - he finds the net with it to make it deuce, but Murray goes long with his next two backhands to hand the Swiss number two the game.

John McEnroe reckons Wawrinka has one of the best backhands he's ever seen, and it certainly is a single-handed thing of beauty. Wawrinka wins the first point on Murray's serve, and Wawrinka proves Macca right there with a peach of a backhand straight down the line to go 0-30. Wawrinka pulling Murray all over the court here, and he puts away an attempted lob by the British number one. Three break points. Murray saves the first, Wawrinka sending a backhand long, before Murray finishes a lengthy rally with a backhand smash. Wawrinka overcooks a backhand as Murray pulls it back to deuce, before the Brit stiffs a forehand into the net from the middle of the court. Wawrinka really climbing into his groundstrokes from the back of the court, and Murray finally wilts to hand the Swiss a break.

1836: Players knocking up now... plenty of red, white and blue on Centre, this place is going to be rocking in a few minutes' time. Murray leads Wawrinka, the Swiss number two and number 19 seed, 4-2 in head-to-heads. Murray stuffed Wawrinka at last year's US Open, he's a red-hot favourite today.

1831: Here come the players, and the fans on Centre Court rise to their feet as one. Plenty of seats on Centre at the moment... totally understandable, it's only the British number one in the fourth round... might as well have a Pimms...

1826: It would appear that they're keeping the lid on, despite the fact that we have blues skies over Wimbledon. The only moisture on Centre Court this evening will be the tears from the eyes of Sir Cliff.

1825: No disrespect to Mauresmo and Safina, but let's be honest, this is what it's all about today - British number one and number three seed Andrew Murray in the fourth round against Stanislas Wawrinka of Switzerland... I'll just find out if it's an indoor match or not...
