German Becker claims maiden title

Benjamin Becker
Becker is the first qualifier to win an ATP Tour title in 2009

Germany's Benjamin Becker lifted the first ATP Tour trophy of his career on Sunday after a 7-5 6-3 win over Raemon Sluiter at the Ordina Open.

Sluiter, who recently came out of retirement, was the lowest-ranked player - at 866th - to reach an ATP final but could not match Becker.

"I really played well," said the 28-year-old qualifier.

Tamarine Tanasugarn defended her title in the women's event, beating Belgian teenager Yanina Wickmayer 6-3 7-5.

"I must say I really feel at home here," said the 32-year-old Thai, who defeated world number one Dinara Safina in the semi-finals.
