Men's Bangalore event cancelled

Richard Gasquet
Gasquet claimed his fifth ATP Tour title in Mumbai in 2007

The re-branded Bangalore Open has been cancelled due to security fears, the ATP has announced.

The week-long tournament was due to start on September 29, but has been called off following last month's bombs in the city which killed one person.

The event was held in Mumbai in 2007 and 2008, with Richard Gasquet crowned champion last year.

"The ATP can confirm that it has accepted a petition to suspend the 2008 event," an ATP spokesman said.
