Mathieu Montcourt of France has been banned for eight weeks and fined US$12,000 for betting on matches.
An ATP investigation found that the 23-year-old, currently ranked 152 in the world, "wagered on tennis matches" between June 2005 and September 2005.
Montcourt did not bet on his own matches and there was "no evidence of any intent to affect the outcome of any matches wagered upon".
Montcourt's ban comes into effect from 11 August.
The ATP's Anti-Corruption Program, established in 2003, prohibits wagering on any form of tennis.
