Unseeded Dominika Cibulkova booked a place in the Rogers Cup final against Dinara Safina after beating Marion Bartoli in a rain-interrupted match.
France's Bartoli led 6-4 1-2 (40-30) when rain halted the action for the second time and Cibulkova came back after the delay to win 4-6 6-4 6-3.
It was a superb comeback from Cibulkova, who beat soon-to-be world number one, Jelena Jankovic, on Friday.
Safina won her semi-final against Victoria Azarenka 6-0 2-6 6-3.
Besides shocking Jankovic, Slovakian Cibulkova beat sixth-ranked Elena Dementieva and number 12 seed Nadia Petrova on her way to the semis.
In her only other final appearance this year, Cibulkova lost to Russian Maria Sharapova at the Amelia Island tournament.
Safina, who is enjoying one of the most productive runs of her career, needed one hour, 45 minutes to beat 11th seeded Azarenka, who turned 19 on Thursday.
