Murray came back from two sets down for the first time in his career

Andy Murray's epic five-set Wimbledon win over Richard Gasquet was watched by 10.5 million viewers on BBC One.

The match was switched from BBC Two after he had battled back from two sets to love down amidst dramatic scenes.

Paul Davies, BBC Sport's executive producer at Wimbledon, said: "It's fantastic that such a great sporting event was brought to a wider audience.

"The decision to switch it to BBC One was vindicated by so many viewers watching the climax of the match."

In Scotland, more than a million people - 50% of the potential audience - watched BBC One as the match finished just after 2130 BST.
