Murray returned to action in August after nearly three months out, and in September helped Britain qualify for the elite World Group of the Davis Cup.
The tie at Wimbledon also marked the retirement of Tim Henman, leaving Murray as Britain's only world-class player.
The 20-year-old showed no signs of strain. His late-season form, which earned him the title in St Petersburg, almost saw him qualify for the Masters Cup.
