Beating Federer
Andy Murray

The Washington final was just the start of a sizzling run on the North American hard-courts.

Murray beat Tim Henman en route to the semi-finals at the Toronto Masters before beating his British compatriot again in his opener in Cincinnati.

But the 19-year-old topped all of that when he dismantled Roger Federer 7-5 6-4, ending the world number one's 55-match winning streak in North America.

"Federer is so far above everybody else so that will make Murray believe a lot more in himself. It's an eye-opener for everyone."
John McEnroe
