Davydenko dumped out of Masters
Nikolay Davydenko
Russia's Davydenko was seeded fourth in Miami
Nikolay Davydenko became the highest seed to fall at the Miami Masters when he was knocked out by US qualifier Amer Delic in the third round.

Delic defeated the Russian fourth seed 7-6 (7-5) 6-3 to book a date with Argentine Juan Ignacio Chela, who beat 14th seed Tomas Berdych 6-4 7-6 (7-5).

World number one Roger Federer also progressed after a 7-5 6-3 win over Spain's Nicolas Almagro.

Croatia's seventh seed Ivan Ljubicic defeated Fabrice Santoro 3-6 6-3 6-4.

Eleventh seed David Nalbandian crashed out after losing 6-4 7-6 (6-3) to Finland's Jarkko Nieminen while Czech Radek Stepanek defeated Colombian Alejandro Falla 6-3 6-2.

Stepanek will next play Spanish sixth seed Tommy Robredo, who was a 6-4 6-4 winner against Germany's Florian Mayer.

Delic recorded his fifth win in a row against Davydenko, and his first against a top-10 player.

"I just went out there and I said to myself, 'Swing and see what happens,'" said Delic, 24.

I'm still kind of looking to come back into the rhythm

Roger Federer

"It just seemed like I would never be able to put the ball away, because I know how Nikolay is fast.

"But then I settled down a little bit, and my serve kind of held me in the match."

Federer, whose 41-match win streak was halted by Argentina's Guillermo Canas last week at Indian Wells, has a chance to avenge his defeat in his next match as the South American ousted French 15th seed Richard Gasquet 7-6 6-3.

"I was happy the way I played," said Federer. "If I look at the whole match I think it was a very good match and I can build on that.

"It was windy out there and I'm still kind of looking to come back into the rhythm after not having many matches the last couple of weeks."
