Croatia's Mario Ancic boosted his chances of making the end-of-season Masters Cup by beating Thomas Johansson in the final of the St Petersburg Open.
Ancic, the third seed, saw off the defending champion from Sweden 7-5 7-6 (2) to claim his third career title.
Ancic trailed the former Australian Open champion 5-2 in the second set before winning a tie-break 7-2.
The Masters Cup in Shanghai is open to the top eight players in the ATP Race - Ancic was 11th before St Petersburg.
He is now in 10th place and trails No. 8 Tommy Robredo by 23 points.
"We both played 100% today," said Ancic after taking his third career title.
"Even when I lost my serve in the second set, I felt I was on my game and had no doubt I would win."
