Dominant Mauresmo storms through
Amelie Mauresmo
Mauresmo has lost to Pratt just once in six meetings
Top seed Amelie Mauresmo stormed through to the last 16 at Wimbledon after an impressive 6-1 6-2 win over Australian qualifer Nicole Pratt.

Mauresmo, a semi-finalist on each of her last three visits to SW19, saw off her 33-year-old opponent in just 59 minutes, sealing victory with an ace.

The Frenchwoman never looked in trouble and took the first set in 29 minutes.

And the Australian Open champion made short work of the second set as she claimed another straight-sets win.

Mauresmo now plays 19th seed Ana Ivanovic of Serbia and Montenegro in the fourth round.

The 18-year-old fought back from a set and 4-2 down to beat Russian 14th seed Dinara Safina 3-6 7-6 (7-3) 6-1 and make the last 16.

Safina, who has never been beyond the third round in three attempts, took the first set inside 30 minutes.

But Ivanovic regained her composure in the second to force a tie-break which she clinched 7-3.

Elena Dementieva ground out a hard-fought win over fellow Russian Elena Likhovtseva to reach round four for the fourth time in five years.

Dementieva fought back from 3-1 down in the second set to reel off five games in a row to win 7-5 6-3.

The error-strewn match contained 16 double faults and 11 breaks of serve as both players struggled with their game.

Seventh seed Dementieva finally ended the match on a baking Court Two with her fourth match point.

Ninth seed Anastasia Myskina booked her fourth-round place by sealing a 6-3 6-4 victory against Spain's Anabel Medina Garrigues.

The 24-year-old took the first set before receiving medical attention after complaining of feeling unwell.

But the break hardly seemed to affect the Russian as she raced to a 4-0 lead in the second set inside 12 minutes.

Medina Garrigues, the 23rd seed, fought back to 5-4 but Myskina held serve to book her place in the last 26.

The 16th seed Flavia Pennetta made it through to the fourth round for the second year in a row with a 6-2 6-3 win over China's Shuai Peng.

Pennetta broke twice in each set and hit nearly three times as many winners as her opponent in a dominant display.
