Gamewatch: Henman v Hewitt
Stella Artois Championships

Semi-final result:

T HENMAN (GB) v L HEWITT (Aus)

3-6 6-3 2-6

Game-by-game updates:

Third set:

Henman 2-6 Hewitt
It's all over. Henman is broken for the third consecutive service game and his Queen's Club hopes are over. Hewitt is through to the final.

Henman 2-5 Hewitt
Five in a row for Hewitt. How completely the balance of power has swung in this match. Henman was nowhere near a break in that game.

Henman 2-4 Hewitt
Oh dear. Henman double-faults to give Hewitt a break point, and then goes way long with his forehand to throw the game - and possibly the match - away.

Henman 2-3 Hewitt
Three games in a row for Hewitt. Henman had two break points but couldn't take either. Still fuming about the earlier line calls, he asks for the tournament supervisor.

Henman 2-2 Hewitt
The temperature suddenly goes up several notches. Hewitt sets up three break points, Henman saves two and is then gobsmacked to hear the linesman call his third winner out after first calling it in. Hewitt breaks back - and Henman wastes no time telling the umpire what he thinks about it all.

Henman 2-1 Hewitt
Hewitt gets his game going again and serves out from 30-30.

Henman 2-0 Hewitt
Henman hasn't serve-and-volleyed as much as he used to, but here he goes back to the grass-court tactic of his youth to hold with confidence.

Henman 1-0 Hewitt
Here's your answer - Henman breaks Hewitt to love to start the deciding set in the best possible fashion.

Second set:

Henman 6-3 Hewitt
It's one set all as Henman holds with confidence. Which Tim will turn up in the third set - the out-of-sorts man who wandered through the first set, or the pumped-up tiger of the last one?

Henman 5-3 Hewitt
Hewitt holds, but not without trouble. Henman is now enjoying himself - playing with a little fire.

Henman 5-2 Hewitt
A big, big game. Hewitt comes fighting back and hits a fine running forehand winner to set up a break point. Henman responds with his best three points of the match - including a sensational sliced drop-shot - to take the game.

Henman 4-2 Hewitt
Bingo - the improvement continues apace as Henman breaks for the first time in the match. Luck is on his side - Hewitt gets short-changed by the net-cord twice - but Henman is looking twice the player he was in the first set. The crowd have finally come alive too.

Henman 3-2 Hewitt
Henman is in the groove and takes the game without breaking sweat.

Henman 2-2 Hewitt
Henman is being much more aggressive in his strokeplay, and at last he's able to put the Hewitt serve under pressure. He has a chance for a break point but misses a forehand by a fraction and the window closes.

Henman 2-1 Hewitt
A little nervy from the home favourite - Tim has to produce his fastest serve of the day (133mph) to save a break point. After two more deuce points, he takes the game as Hewitt goes long.

Henman 1-1 Hewitt
Henman at last gets Hewitt to deuce on the Aussie's serve. But he can't take the chance - and when his backhand goes long, he's furious. He walks to the umpire's chair, and the word "rubbish" is clearly audible.

Henman 1-0 Hewitt
Better from Henman - he takes his service game without dropping a point. Hewitt nets on the key point - can Henman now finally put pressure on the underrated Hewitt serve?

First set:

Henman 3-6 Hewitt
Hewitt rushes through his service game, wins it to love and takes the first set in just 25 minutes. Henman has seldom troubled him.

Henman 3-5 Hewitt
Henman, sporting significant facial hair today, steps up a gear on serve and holds to love again. There is little sign of a break on either side at the moment.

Henman 2-5 Hewitt
Hewitt remains in top form and he races through another love game before bounding to the chair.

Henman 2-4 Hewitt
A much better game gives Henman a boost. He holds to love for the first time today, making one superb off-forehand winner.

"A very solid start from Hewitt, especially on serve, and at the moment Henman's not really in this semi-final."
BBC Sport commentator Chris Bailey

Henman 1-4 Hewitt
Hewitt has lost just two points on serve so far and comfortably consolidates his break of serve. Henman does manage one fizzing backhand winner, prompting the first "Come on Tim!" of the day from crowd.

Henman 1-3 Hewitt
The match finally gets going, and it's not in Henman's favour. A poor approach allows Hewitt to pass easily for the first point and he goes on to earn two break points. The Australian gets the break at the second opportunity when Henman's forehand goes wide.

Henman 1-2 Hewitt
Maybe it's the heat but the sultry atmosphere is giving the match a rather lethargic air in the early stages. Hewitt holds serve with little fuss.

Henman 1-1 Hewitt
The Henman forehand has been one of the major improvements this week and he starts in sparkling form on that wing, making three winners as he holds to 15.

Henman 0-1 Hewitt
Henman wins the toss and chooses to receive, obviously looking for an early break. It doesn't work as Hewitt holds to love, with a limp Henman forehand return giving the Aussie the game.

It is another beautiful day at Queen's Club as Tim Henman prepares to take on Lleyton Hewitt for a place in the final of the Stella Artois Championships.

Henman has lost three times to the Aussie in this event and has a 1-8 career record against the three-time champion.

But his improved form this week, and the fact that he won their last encounter, give a glimmer of hope to the Briton.
