And tennis writer Joel Drucker gives an insight to the complex player, who won eight Grand Slams and a total of 109 tournaments in the 1970s and 1980s.

As a one-time confidante, Drucker chronicles the life of the enigmatic superstar and loner, also revealing the emotional impact the American left-hander had on his own life.
