Rain washes out Swiss Open play
Rain meant that only one first-round match was completed on the opening day of the Swiss Open in Gstaad.

Spain's Fernando Verdasco beat Czech qualifier Jaroslav Pospisil 6-2 6-4 but seven other contests were washed out.

For the first time since 1997, home hero Roger Federer, who won his third straight Wimbledon title on Sunday, does not feature in the draw.

The world number is taking a month off prior to starting the North American hardcourt season.

Forecasts for the next few days are mixed, with more rain expected.
