Daniela Hantuchova's star has waned since she shot to fame in 2002 when she reached the quarter-finals at Wimbledon and the US Open.
But the 22-year-old's preferred surface is grass, and her favourite tournament Wimbledon, so she could find the extra edge to launch a serious challenge.
After a third-round exit in January's Australian Open, Hantuchova reached three straight quarter-finals in Toyko, Doha and Dubai.
She actually advanced to the last four in Doha, before she was beaten by Russian Maria Sharapova.
A successsion of poor results followed for Hantuchova after Dubai until she arrived at Roland Garros.
She was knocked out in the third round by Kim Clijsters but there was some consolation as she claimed the mixed doubles crown with Frenchman Fabrice Santoro.
