19. Tommy Haas
Tommy Haas
Born: 03/04/78
Nationality: German
Seeded: 19
World ranking: 20
Wimbledon best:
3rd round (1998, 1999 & 2000)
Recent record:
2004: 2nd round
2003: N/A
2002: N/A

A graduate of the famous Nick Bolletieri academy, Haas has been as high as number two in the world rankings.

But the Hamburg-born player has never quite managed to turn teenage talent into Grand Slam success, although he has twice reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open.

In his defence, Haas has suffered more than his fair share of injuries - he has broken both ankles while a shoulder injury in 2002 kept him out of action for 15 months.

That saw the Sydney Olympics silver medallist miss Wimbledon again, having bypassed it the previous year after his parents were involved in a serious road accident.

His Wimbledon record does not reflect his talent, with the highlight a second-round victory over Andre Agassi in 1998.
