Guillermo Canas is one of the large band of world-class Argentines, many of whom look on Wimbledon as a break between the clay and hard-court seasons.

However, the 27-year-old should not be so easliy dismissed, no matter what the surface.

The man from Buenos Aires has battling qualities to rival anyone on tour and can run all day.

One man who has learnt that to his cost is Tim Henman, who has a 1-5 record against the Argentine and a habit of losing to him in Grand Slams.

Wimbledon should prove too much for Canas, who prefers a high-bouncing ball to attack, but he has already shown his potential by reaching the last 16 in 2001.

His form this year has been steady if unspectacular but a run to the last eight at Roland Garros will have given him plenty of confidence.
