Tim Henman was in masterful form to sweep aside Radek Stepanek 7-5 6-3 at the Nasdaq-100 Open on Tuesday.
The British number one will now face top seed Roger Federer in the quarter-finals in Miami on Thursday.
Henman's progress was rarely in doubt against Stepanek, although the Czech had the initiative at 5-4 in the first set before making some crucial errors.
Two more wayward backhands put Henman a break up early in the second set and he served out to win with ease.
The only threat from Stepanek came when Henman had to avoid a pot-shot at his head from his frustrated opponent.

There will be no pressure on me against Federer so I can just focus on the things I am doing well and see what happens

After making it four wins out of four against the 23rd seed, Henman said: "I had a good record against him and I wanted to keep it that way.
"If I'd lost that first set it wouldn't have been ideal but I still felt comfortable. In the second set my level went up and I was always in control."
Looking ahead to his clash with Federer, Henman added: "More recently he's taken the game to a new level and his record over the last 16 months has been phenomenal.
"But there will be no pressure or expectation on me so I can just focus on the things I'm doing well and see what happens.
"He's had a couple of tough matches, dropping a set against Mariano Zabaleta and Mario Ancic, and hopefully I can create a few opportunities for myself."
