Courier defeats Pioline in Paris

Courier moves to sixth in the overall standings
Former French Open champion Jim Courier won his first Delta Tour of Champions title of the year in Paris on Saturday.

Courier defeated Cedric Pioline 7-6 (7-4) 6-4 in the final of the 2e Trophee Jean-Luc Lagardere to move to sixth in the overall standings.

Sergi Bruguera won a battle of two more former French Open champions, beating Thomas Muster 6-4 6-3 to finish third.

The players are battling to reach the Champions Masters at the Royal Albert Hall, from 29 November to 4 December.

Eindhoven will host the next stop of the Tour from 13-16 October.
