American Lisa Raymond and Australia's Samantha Stosur beat Elena Dementieva of Russia and Italian Flavia Pennetta to win the US Open women's doubles.
The sixth seeds battled to a 6-2 5-7 6-3 victory over the 14th seeds on Sunday in one hour 46 minutes.
"The first couple of tournaments we played in we didn't do that great," said Raymond.
"But it takes a bit of time to get used to playing together and the last few weeks has been great."
Raymond and Stosur joined up for the North American hardcourt season
in July, and were playing their fifth event together.
They won the doubles title in New Haven on the eve of the US Open.
The victory adds to Raymond's three previous Grand Slam doubles titles,
the 2000 Australian Open, 2001 Wimbledon and 2001 US Open, all won
with Aussie Rennae Stubbs.
