Three-time Grand Slam winner Jennifer Capriati had surgery on her problem right shoulder on Friday and hopes to begin rehabilitation within a week.
The American picked up the injury at the Advanta Championships in November and was forced to miss the Australian Open, which she won in 2001 and 2002.
Capriati was operated on in Wilmington, Delaware, by Dr Craig Morgan, who expects she will make a full recovery.
But no date has yet been set for the former world number one's return.
"Once rehabilitation is through, Jennifer can resume a full
competitive schedule," Morgan said.
Capriati has won 14 WTA events, but her most recent crown came
in 2003 at New Haven in the final US Open tune-up event.
