Blake is fuming when he lines up a pass at 2-1 down only for the umpire to call a let. It seems to fire him up and he storms through five straight points to lead 6-3, with a running forehand pass the highlight. Another winner gives Blake the set.

Rusedski 6-6 Blake
Rusedski bluffs the second poitns by rushing the net on a poor return and forces the error to go 0-30 up. The Briton earns two set points but sees both fly past him as aces.

Rusedski 6-5 Blake
Rusedski recovers from 0-40 with two classic serve-volley points and an unreturnable serve, then saves another break point with a huge serve. The Briton hangs on to a crucial game.

Rusedski 5-5 Blake
Blake fires a blistering forehand winner down the line on the opening point and, despite a double fault, he holds to 30.

Rusedski 5-4 Blake
Another quickfire Rusedski service game sees the set edge towards a tie-break, unless someone can find some inspiration on the return.

Blake holds to 15, much to the delight of an increasingly large and boisterous crowd in the Arthur Ashe Stadium.

The momentum shifts back to Blake as the American earns two break points. Rusedski saves the first with an ace but nets a volley on the second to hand Blake another break.

Rusedski 5-5 Blake
A remarkable turnaround looks on the cards when Rusedski gets to set point but he nets a backhand return, and two more unforced errors see Blake level.

Rusedski 5-4 Blake
The confidence comes flooding back as Rusedski delivers some huge serves and finishes with a forehand winner to take his third straight game.

Rusedski 4-4 Blake
After a sluggish start on the return Rusedski races to 0-40 and capitalises immediately to get the break back.
