Gonzalez grabs Auckland triumph

Fifth-seeded Fernando Gonzalez of Chile beat Olivier Rochus of Belgium 6-4 6-2 to win the Heineken Open in Auckland.

Gonzalez conceded only seven points on serve in the first set and four in the second, winning in 75 minutes.

Rochus saved six break points in thefirst set and six in the second before Gonzalez took the match on his fourth championship point.

"Some weeks I play good and some not. This was my week," Gonzalez said. "I think I played almost perfect."

Rochus had beaten two seeded players, including top-seeded Guillermo Coria or Argentina on the way to the final but he struggled to handle Gonzalez's serve.

"I tried my best but I think today he was just toogood," he said.

"He was just too strong and he was serving too good.Every shot was perfect."
