John McEnroe moved to the top of the Delta Tour of Champions standings on Saturday with his second title of 2005.
The 46-year-old American beat Pat Cash 6-1 7-5 in the final of the Vale Do Lobo Grand Champions Millennium BCP.
"It's really tough to win these tournaments now," said McEnroe. "I'm way fitter and better than I was five or 10 years ago and I need to be."
McEnroe looks set to qualify for the Champions Masters at the Royal Albert Hall, from 29 November to 4 December.
He also won the opening event of the season in Frankfurt in February and has no intention of stopping soon.
"I've got to push it hard for these next couple of years because I'm right on the edge of something special - I'm really close to playing very, very well.
"I can't go away and come back in three or four years when I'm 50 or 52, I've got to do it now."
The tour shifts to Graz in Austria next week, with Boris Becker attempting to defend a title he has won three times before.
The top 10 players in the rankings after all 10 events are complete will qualify for London, with the addition of two wild cards.
