Murray becomes slightly complacent after racing to a 30-0 lead. Bastl brings the game level, but the Swissman fails to make more of his advatage.

It is hard to tell whether Bastl takes some strange satisfaction in playing the first two points of his service game badly. Murray finds himself with two break points, more owing to errors from his Swiss opponent. He takes the second after another Bastl mistake.

Murray overcomes the previous game's frustrations by powering his way to another love game, with more sublime serving.

Murray begins to talk to himself after making a mistake - and that is after having taken a set lead! Bastl rushes a shot at the net which sees the the game pulled back to 40-30. But a good serve gives him the first game of the second set.

The teenager shows the crowd he is pumped up for the match with a variety of Henman-like fist gestures. Murray races to 40-0. Two good returns from Bastl makes Murray panic a little. But a heavy second serve flummoxes the Swiss and gives Murray the first set.

The 18-year-old begins to turn up the heat on the 30-year-old Bastl. An over-hit forehand gives Murray two break points. An ace gives Bastl a lifeline, but the next point and the break is won by Murray after a tantalising baseline rally.

Murray produces his fourth ace and gives a strong indication to the fact he may be a major force both on grass, and on the hard and clay courts with his good range of ground strokes.
Murray 3-4 Bastl
Murray looks more likely to break first. Bastl is taken to the limit in the game but produces one scintillating shot to hold on to his service game.
Murray 3-3 Bastl
Murray produces his best game of the match so far with two fantastic passing shots followed by an ace. A mistake from Bastl hands Murray another game to love.
Murray 2-3 Bastl
The Swiss player suffers the Wimbledon wobbles. He makes three unforced errors to give Murray three break points. Murray snatches at the chances. Bastl holds on to his serve despite looking slightly edgy.
Murray 2-2 Bastl
Murray plays the best shot of the match so far with a drop-shot from the baseline. He wins his second service game to love.
Murray 1-2 Bastl
Both players are not afraid to mix up their games - coming into the net and staying at the baseline. Bastl also shows he has a big serve by grabbing his second ace. A couple more good serves gives Bastl the game.
Murray 1-1 Bastl
Murray, having seemingly recovered from an ankle injury picked up at Queen's, shows the crowd at Court Two the immense power of his serve. He is taken to 40-30, but an ace gives him his first game.
Murray 0-1 Bastl
Murray wins the toss and elects to receive. Bastl, whose claim to fame is having beaten Pete Sampras at Wimbledon, loses the first point but then has no such problems on his service game.
