Sharapova dismisses stalker fear
Maria Sharapova
Wimbledon defending champion Maria Sharapova says she is not worried about the threat of stalkers.

Sharapova was speaking after it was revealed that a fan who has lunged at her in the past has reportedly been banned from the tournament.

"I have five bodyguards walking around with me all the time," said Sharapova. "I feel secure. I'm always surrounded by people. I always feel safe.

"If I was worried every step, I don't think I would be walking around."

The Sunday Mirror newspaper reported that a British man who vaulted over a barrier and tried to reach Sharapova during a tournament in Los Angeles in November has been banned from attending Wimbledon.

Neither the All England Club nor Scotland Yard would comment on the report.
