Virginie Razzano ended 2004 on a fairly high note, with a career-best finish and her first appearance in a Tour singles final at Tashkent.
But the Frenchwoman's roll came to an abrupt halt this when she failed to win a single match in January.
She has since enjoyed improved fortunes, culminating in a semi-final spot on the claycourts of Amelia Island, where she downed Alicia Molik, Ai Sugiyama and Vera Zvonareva before losing to Silvia Farina Elia.
The result enabled the 22-year-old, who was also part of France's 4-1 victory against Austria in the Fed Cup, to break into the top 50 for the first time.
Her Wimbledon best is the third round last year, having failed to make it past the second round on three previous attempts.
Razzano has also reached the third round at three French Opens (2005, 2001 and 2000) and one Australian Open (2001).
