Things go from bad to worse for Dementieva. She powers a backhand into the net to lose a fifth straight game and leave Myskina serving for the first set.

Dementieva has deuce when her scrambled pick-up clips the net and drops over, forcing the error from Myskina. Dementieva wastes a break point with a wayward forehand, and after five deuces and a third double fault from Myskina, the sixth seed finally holds.

Dementieva delivers her fourth double fault and Myskina goes on to earn a break point. She wins it with a deep backhand which sets up an easy put-away.

Dementieva is all aggression, but Myskina is frustrating her opponent by scrapping on the baseline. The sixth seed is the first player to hold serve.

Dementieva's shaky serve is in evidence already. Three double faults in her opening service game hand Myskina the break back.

Both players are in their first Grand Slam final, and understandably there are signs of nerves. Dementieva is the more aggressive in the opening game and Myskina delivers a double fault on break point.
