Kafelnikov won the French Open in 1996
Former French Open champion Yevgeny Kafelnikov has pulled out of this year's tournament at Roland Garros.

"Kafelnikov, semi-retired since the start of the season, has decided not to take part," said a statement from the organisers of the Paris event.

The Russian will be replaced in the draw for the tournament which begins on 24 May by Spain's Alex Corretja.

South African Amanda Coetzer has pulled out of the women's event and will be replaced by Russia's Alina Jidkova.
