Clijsters is hoping for revenge against Myskina
|
Belgium's Kim Clijsters cruised into the semi-finals in Leipzig with a 6-1 6-3 victory over Switzerland's Patty Schnyder on Friday.
The world number one now plays Anastasia Myskina, who knocked her out of the event last year.
Myskina, seeded third, came back from a set and a break down on her way to defeating Russian compatriot Nadia Petrova 6-7 6-1 6-1.
Clijsters was delighted to have got off to a flying start.
"It is always motivating to break serve in the opening game as I did," said the Belgian, who was suffering from a sore throat.
"And, yes, it was a bonus to get through this quite quickly."
Maria Vento-Kabchi reached her second semi-final in three weeks following the retirement of Czech Sandra Kleinova.
The Venezuelan qualifier was leading 6-0 3-1 when her opponent quit with a thigh injury.
