Serena Williams bt Jennifer Capriati 4-6 6-4 6-1
Serena Williams maintained her unbeaten record this year as she came from behind to beat Jennifer Capriati in the final of the Nasdaq Open.
There was the hint of a shock when Capriati took the opening set as Williams struggled to find her form.
But the world number one broke Capriati three times in the second set, and twice more in the third to retain her title at the unofficial fifth Grand Slam.
Williams' dominance of the women's game seems impregnable on current form.
Despite the win, the world number one was unhappy with her performance.
"I wasn't on my game today but I am going to do something about that," said
Williams.
"I've been hanging out and relaxing for the past two weeks. I've slacked off
but I will be back.
"Mentally I was up but I don't think physically I was up, and playing-wise
there were things I wasn't doing."
Capriati did well to recover in the first set after falling a break down early on.
I can definitely hang in there with her

She broke Williams twice in succession to lead 5-3 and then served out to take the first set 6-4.
But she was unable to take any momentum into the second set, and quickly found herself 4-0 down.
However she broke back twice to trail 5-4, only to be broken once more as she served to stay in the set.
With that went her chance, and Williams raced through the third set 6-1 to retain her title with another convincing victory.
"I can definitely hang in there with her," said Capriati, who was celebrating her 27th birthday.
"Her serve doesn't bother me too much," she added.
