Capriati books Serena final
Friday's WTA Tour round-up

Jennifer Capriati in action in Florida
Capriati was beaten by Williams in last year's final
Jennifer Capriati eased past compatriot Chanda Rubin in straight sets to reach the final of the Nasdaq-100 Open in Florida.

Capriati took the opening set of their semi-final 6-2, and won the second 6-4 to seal victory.

Despite losing her serve in the opening game, the sixth seed dominated her opponent, hitting 27 winners and breaking Rubin's serve six times.

The American will now play world number one Serena Williams in a repeat of last year's final.

Williams was triumphant on that occasion, and has already won titles this year at the Australian Open and Paris.

Dominant

Capriati, who will play on her 27th birthday, also lost to Venus Williams in the final two years ago.

"Maybe third time's a charm," she said after dispatching Rubin.

"I'm just going to go in there and do my best and say what the heck."

Serena Williams is in dominant form though, having reeled off 16 straight wins since her last defeat to Kim Clijsters in November.

"Maybe she'll feel generous and give me a birthday present and let me win," Capriati added.
