Widjaja's Thai triumph
Angelique Widjaja claimed her second WTA title by beating Cho Yeon Jeong 6-2 6-4 in the Volvo Women's Open final in Thailand.

Angelique Widjaja has played in two WTA event finals and won them both
Widjaja took advantage of Cho's injury
World number 91 Widjaja, the rising star of Indonesian tennis, raced through the first set 6-2.

South Korea's Cho fought back in the second, but was troubled by a thigh injury.

After both players gained breaks in the opening two games, each held serve before Widjaja broke Cho again in the sixth game to go 4-2 up, and then held to lead 5-2.

The Korean double faulted to gift Widjaja set point at 5-2, and a mis-hit cross court return gave the Indonesian the first set.

In the second set Cho immediately broke her 17-year-old opponent's serve and then held to go 2-0 up.

Dug deep

The Indonesian, clearly feeling the affects of beating top seed Tatiana Panova in a three-set semi-final and then playing in the doubles, was beginning to tire.

But she then found her second wind as Cho's injury started to limit her mobility and fought back to 3-2 down.

Cho received treatment from the tournament doctor before the sixth game and then dropped serve to allow Widjaja to tie the set at 3-3.

The Korean dug deep to immediately break back but it was the end of her resistance and she dropped serve again.

Widjaja then held hers to take a 5-4 lead and then broke Cho again with a cross-court winner on match point to secure victory.
