Dokic ruins Hingis return
Jennifer Capriati celebrates victory over Justine Henin
Capriati overpowered Henin in the last two sets
Jelena Dokic cut short the comeback of Martina Hingis with a 6-4 6-3 victory in the quarter-finals of the Canadian Open.

Hingis had been hoping to make a victorious return to action in her first tournament since having ankle surgery in May.

But third seed Dokic dominated the former world number one with some powerful shots in a match which lasted little more than an hour.

"I was sometimes a little slow. She played well from both sides," said Hingis, who will play at New Haven next week before moving on to the US Open.

"She is in a tournament routine and that is what I need to get back to."

Dokic will face Jennifer Capriati in the semi-finals after the American's battling victory over Belgian Justine Henin.

Second seed Capriati launched a blistering comeback after losing the first set 4-6 to take the final two sets 6-0 6-2.

"After the first set, I just got a little angry at myself," said Capriati. "I just stuck in there. She didn't serve that well in the second and third set."

Amelie Mauresmo made short work of Colombia's Fabiola Zuluaga to move into the last four, winning 6-0 6-2 in just 50 minutes.

"I broke very early and that gave me a lot of confidence," said Mauresmo, who before this year had never gone beyond the third round of the tournament.

Mauresmo will now meet Slovakia's Daniela Hantuchova, who raised her career record against Austrian Barbara Schett to 3-0 with a comfortable 6-3 6-3 victory.
