Schnyder upsets Capriati
Patty Schnyder
Schnyder has captured another major scalp
Switzerland's Patty Schnyder has continued her remarkable run at Charleston with a 6-4 6-3 victory over top seed Jennifer Capriati.

The win was Schnyder's third against a top 10 player en route to reaching the final of the Family Circle Cup.

Defeat for defending champion Capriati means she relinquishes her world number one spot to Venus Williams.

Schnyder defeated Williams' sister, Serena, ranked number seven in the world, in Friday's quarterfinals.

Earlier, Schnyder eliminated Amelie Mauresmo of France, ranked number 10 and the tournament's sixth seed.

It was the first time in three meetings that Schnyder has beat Capriati, and it was their first meeting on clay.

Schnyder meets Iva Majoli, who is also unseeded, in the final.

Majoli beat the number seven seed Sandrine Testud 6-2 6-4.
