Henman powers past Massu
Henman powered his way to a straight sets win
Tim Henman eased his way into the third round of the Monte Carlo Masters with a straight sets win over Chile's Nicolas Massu. The British number one took the first set 6-1 before taking the second on a tie-break.
Henman stamped his authority on the match straight from the start, breaking his opponent in the very first game. The second set was much closer, with Massu's improved serving forcing a tie-break, which Henman won 7-3. The tournament's fourth seed will now face Argentine clay-court specialist Juan Ignacio Chela in the third round. Massu's serve let him down early on - and he suffered further problems when he was hit on the nose by a Henman volley. The South American was also struggling with an arm injury, but he fought back in the second set, thanks in no small part to a much-improved service game. Henman showed few signs of tiredness following his three-set victory over Argentine Guillermo Coria on Tuesday.
