Andre Agassi beat Agustin Calleri to ease into the fourth round and keep his chances of a fifth Nasdaq-100 Open title alive.

Agassi romped past the Argentine 6-3 6-2 in a little over an hour.

Calleri was playing in his first event in almost a month after suffering a hamstring injury in the Buenos Aires final.

If Agassi wins a fifth Miami title he will match the women's record held by his wife Steffi Graf.

Agassi will now meet either eighth seeded Australian Open champion Thomas Johansson of Sweden or Argentina's Guillermo Coria, who is playing in his first Tour event since a seven month drug suspension.

Second seed Juan Carlos Ferrero of Spain was upset 7-6 1-6 6-2 by Adrian Voinea.

The Romanian won the first set in a tiebreak 8-6 then recovered from a second set lapse to easily claim the third set and the match from Ferrero.

In the fourth round Voinea will meet Ecuador's Nicolas Lapentti who advanced with a 7-6 7-6 victory over 13th seeded Czech Jiri Novak.

Third seed Yevgeny Kafelnikov's Masters Series jinx continued as he lost to Chile's Marcelo Rios 6-4 7-6.

The Russian has lost all five finals in which he has appeared.

Joining the exodus of top seeds was Frenchman Sebastien Grosjean.

He was beaten 7-6 4-6 6-1 by Argentina's Gaston Gaudio.
