Hingis eases through
Hingis wasted little time in her second round match

Martina Hingis demolished American qualifier Janet Lee 6-1 6-0 on Friday to become the first player to go through to the third round of the Nasdaq-100 Open Masters. She was joined by Serena Williams who overcame a slow start to breeze past fellow American Lilia Osterloh 7-5 6-1. But Serena's elder sister Venus must wait until Saturday to play her second round match after rain brought a premature end to the day's play. Hingis was back to her ruthless best after losing to 18-year-old Slovakian Daniela Hantuchova in the Pacific Life Open at Indian Wells on Sunday. The Swiss player needed just 50 minutes to dispose of Lee in Miami. Hingis, who has won just one match in six Tour events this season, lost the first game on her opponent's serve but then took the next 11 games. Osterloh served for the opening set against Williams, but the eighth-seed broke to level at 5-5 before taking the next seven games. Seventh seed Jelena Dokic also won, beating Germany's Marlene Weingartner 6-3 6-2.
