Hingis sweeps Seles aside
Martina Hingis on her way to victory over Monica Seles
Martina Hingis produced a ruthless display to ease past Monica Seles in straight sets at the Indian Wells Masters on Thursday.

The 6-3 6-2 victory puts Hingis in her fourth final in five events this season.

Hingis, who has not dropped a set in five matches, needed just 59 minutes on a chilly centre court to claim her 15th win in 19 meetings with fourth seed Seles.

She has now reached the Indian Wells final three times in five visits to the desert tournament.

Hingis satisfied

Second seed Hingis was not broken in the opening set and was also seldom challenged in the second after roaring into a 3-0 lead.

A disappinted Seles said: "I made error after error, and Martina played too good. I guess she made me make those errors.

"I had a very difficult time with my serve, and that put a lot of pressure on me."

Hingis was pleased with her performance and said she was "really out there from the first point on".

She added: "I haven't played a match like this in a while. I made her play shots, she missed some, and some I just reacted very well, wrong-footing her."
