Massu masters Calleri
Chile's Nicolas Massu in action
Massu had to come back from a set and 5-2 down
N Massu beat A Calleri 2-6 7-6 6-2.

Chile's Nicolas Massu staged an amazing comeback to beat Argentina's Agustin Calleri in the final of the Copa AT&T.

Massu looked well on his way to a crushing defeat as he trailed by a set and 5-2 on the clay of the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club on Sunday.

But the 22-year-old stormed back to level the match in a second-set tie-break and kept his nerve to claim a maiden ATP Tour victory.

"This is the first tournament I've won. I did it in an incredible way, so I'm really happy. I dedicate this win to all of Chile," said Massu.

Argentina's Agustin Calleri in action
Calleri fell apart in his first ATP Tour final
Calleri went into the match as firm favourite after knocking out world number two Gustavo Kuerten in the first round and cruising through to the final.

And the world number 74 dominated the start of the match as 5,000 Argentines roared him on.

Calleri landed almost 70% of his first serves and broke his opponent twice on his way to taking the first set.

Massu looked tired and distracted, unable to match Calleri's speed around the court.

He surrendered his serve in the opening game of the second set and again in the third as Calleri rushed into a 5-2 lead.

But with the first ATP title of his career in sight, Calleri wobbled.

He was broken twice and squandered two match points before losing the tie-break 7-5.

It seemed to destroy Calleri's confidence and he lost his first two service games of the decider as Massu took a 4-1 lead.

Calleri broke back to give himself a ray of hope but lost his serve again in the next game and Massu served out to take the title.
