Spain's Tommy Robredo and Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario have beaten the top-seeded United States 2-1 to win the Hopman Cup.

The victory made Sanchez-Vicario the first player to win the event twice, having won with brother Emilio in 1990.

"Today it was just our day and we won it," said Sanchez-Vicario after the victory on Saturday.

"I just want to thank Tommy. Thanks for playing with me - I know you have a long way to go in your career."
