Spain win Hopman Cup

Click here for Hopman Cup final results Spain's Tommy Robredo and Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario have beaten the top-seeded United States 2-1 to win the Hopman Cup. The victory made Sanchez-Vicario the first player to win the event twice, having won with brother Emilio in 1990. "Today it was just our day and we won it," said Sanchez-Vicario after the victory on Saturday. "I just want to thank Tommy. Thanks for playing with me - I know you have a long way to go in your career."
Robredo and Sanchez-Vicario, seeded three, won the mixed doubles 6-4 6-2 to hand the United States pair their second Hopman Cup final defeat in two years. Robredo had earlier fought off two match points to beat Gambill 6-3 2-6 7-6 in the second singles and send the final into the decisive mixed doubles clash. "It is amazing," the 19-year-old Robredo said. "Thanks to Arantxa for playing with me. "She is one of the greatest players ever in Spain and it is great to be here with her. "I had a great time in my first year and, if you want, I will come back next year." The United States had taken the first match on court, when Seles beat Sanchez-Vicario 6-1 7-6.
